We have been freezing dog semen and working with canine reproduction since 1987. Having worked with semen from all of the major semen banks in the US, the staff of BVS is highly skilled in the handling of chilled and frozen canine semen. We offer reproductive consultations, infertility management, surgical (at our hospital) and transcervical (both at the mobile facility and hospital) inseminations.
(For additional information, read Semen Insemination)
We use the most up to date freezing protocols and have hundreds of litters from frozen semen as old as 27 years.
Our AKC approved storage facility is at our hospital in northern California. For inseminations performed in that region there are no shipping costs. We do however offer shipping anywhere in the world. Supplies are available for chilled semen shipments and we have chilled extenders that are effective for up to 2 weeks.
Dr Popkin attends yearly veterinary conferences for the American College of Theriogenologists (ACT) and the European Veterinary Society for Small Animal Reproduction (EVSSAR).
He has been treating canine infertility since 1987 and has extensive experience inseminating chilled and frozen semen from his as well as most other freezing protocols.
Many minor surgical procedures (Sebacious adenitis skin biopsies for example) can be done with local anesthesia. We are generally parked at the show grounds for the entire weekend and are available (pending appointment availability) to consult in the evening after Best in Show is finished. A bank of monitors will be available to discreetly view your x-ray images as well as a gallery of standard images to compare yours to.
