Digital radiography has greatly improved our ability to provide accurate and timely OFA certification.
The images are superior and with our direct digital technology, positioning problems are eliminated. It is no longer necessary to wait several minutes to process a standard x-ray before realizing the need to retake the shot. We are able to view the image within 6 seconds while the patient is still positioned on the table and retake the film before the dog even realizes the procedure is over.
The cost and stress of hospitalization and general anesthesia are eliminated. Hip and elbow x-rays together require only about 10 minutes and the owner/handler are present for the entire process. We have been taking these films without the use of anesthesia for over 23 years and even in very strong and giant breed dogs, rarely requires the use of any form of sedation.
